Green Office Building
The 800 Bancroft office development provided a rare design opportunity: an architect, owner, client and tenant all in one. Occupying a West Berkeley corner site adjacent to the firm’s longtime office, the 15,000 square foot building holds the firm’s offices in one wing and additional office rental space in a second wing. The building’s simple material palette of raw wood and unpainted corrugated metal allows it to blend easily with the light industrial context, while modern additions like perforated metal window shades make the open space functional. The office’s open plan continues all the way into the partners’ offices, promoting communication and saving space on circulation.
