MLK Community Center
The Martin Luther King Jr. Park and Community Center is a three phase redevelopment project of a municipal park located on a 12.87 acre parcel in the Iron Triangle area of Richmond, California. Phase one, including a synthetic turf soccer field, running track, picnic and other community amenities, was completed in May of 2011.
The MLK Jr. Park and Community Center is designed with the goal of creating a hub for neighborhood activities uniting and empowering an under-served community. Throughout the entire design process the community was deeply involved, providing invaluable insight into their wants and needs, including an emphasis on safety, education, activity, arts and environment.
